The Maremonti path
The Maremonti track is a long cycle path on a former railway that crosses some of the most beautiful corners of Liguria, a fascinating alternation of light and shadow to discover this unique territory from an unprecedented perspective.
You will walk for 6 kilometers (an hour’s walk) in the rock, a route entirely on the sea that connects Levanto, Bonassola and Framura, admiring wonderful and suggestive views and landscapes: what was once a railway is today a cycle and pedestrian path that will allow you to discover the most authentic Liguria. We suggest you to start from Framura, just twenty minutes by car from the hotel.
The Maremonti slope is a romantic journey that alternates panoramic views with tunnels, you will experience the thrill of walking through the mountain. The route is flat, and that’s why the excursion is suitable for everyone and stimulating for all ages: you will meet various types of birds, rodents and small mammals, flowers and plants typical of the region with their colors and shades proudly seated towards the sea, many elements that will also feed the curiosity of the little ones.
The stretch of cycle path that connects Bonassola with Framura takes place almost entirely in the tunnel of the former railway, panoramic windows have been created on it from which to see the surrounding marine beauty: light and shadow that alternate in succession creating an atmosphere where the charm of Liguria is exalted and transformed into a fascinating postcard.
Between one gallery and another you will come across delightful pendous coves framed by austere cliffs and crystal clear water with a perfectly visible seabed: you will experience the vertigo of having the boundless sea on one side and the mountain rising sheer on the other.
A cycle path that deserves more than one visit, easily reachable from Sestri Levante, a true paradise for runners and cyclists and the perfect destination for families, joggers and the simply curious. An unforgettable journey between sea and mountains.
