Zoagli is a delightful village located in the Gulf of Tigullio between Rapallo and Chiavari, a short distance from Sestri Levante, one of the pearls on the sea of Liguria that can unveil several fascinating landmarks and many reason for interest.
This resort is best known for its cliffs that line a beautiful seaside promenade, the Lungomare Canevaro, set in the gulf from which unforgettable sunsets can be admired. Among the things to see in Zoagli are the characteristic narrow streets where time seems to stand still, the olive trees cradled by the salty wind that brings hints of the sea even in the most inland areas, as well as the rugged and nuanced nature of Liguria.
In the seabed near the coast, at a depth of nine meters, is the statue of Our Lady of the Sea , a bronze sculpture created in 1996 by sculptor Marian Hastianatte as a symbol of protection for Zoagli and its inhabitants. Today it is a strong draw for lovers of underwater exploration and a tourist attraction that draws enthusiasts and the curious from all over.
Another must-see is the Sem Benelli Castle, a private residence overlooking the crystal-clear waters of Liguria, famous because over the years it has hosted such illustrious figures as Nietsche, Ezra Pound, and Kandinsky.
Zoagli is a town to visit several times to be captured by the suspended atmosphere that its landscapes emanate and to discover new and bewitching details. From the town square starts the Sentiero dei Cinque Campanili (Trail of the Five Bell Towers) that ideally connects the hillside hamlets and their churches rich in charm and history: from each one of the several squares you can lose yourself with your gaze in the boundless horizon of the Ligurian sea.
