Sestri Levante is an open-air film set: its beaches, streets, sea and charming villages are the ideal location in which to set Riff, one of the region’s most important events, an independent film festival not to be missed.
The Riviera Film Festival came to life in 2007 and over the years has established itself as a growing reality, gaining more and more success with audiences and critics. This year it takes place from May 9 to 14 and colors Sestri Levante with music, ideas and visions: thirty films in competition by filmmakers under 35 from all over the world, a cross-section of culture and cross-cultural thinking that gives unprecedented and surprising points of view.
A week of events, movies, documentaries to enjoy in the beautiful atmosphere of Sestri Levante. The perfect occasion to have fun, to think about the actual most discussed topics, just a stone’s throw from the charming Ligurian sea. A festival full of charm and suggestions to be experienced to the fullest from sunrise to the delightful sunset.
Sestri becomes a melting pot of trends, the pearl of the Riviera is enriched with countless nuances: Riff 2023 opens the dances at the Cinema Ariston, with Red Carpet and the Festival’s opening ceremony, then continues at the former Convento dell’Annunziata with free screenings and inside the fantastic Baia del Silenzio hosting interesting masterclasses in an exceptional setting.
Many names will flock to Sestri during the days of the festival: Anna Foglietta, Vanessa Beecroft, Anna Favella, Lavinia Longhi, Anna Ammirati and Paolo Ruffini are just part of the cast of stars of Italian cinema and entertainment. President of the film jury will be British actress Emily Mortimer, while the documentary jury will be chaired by actress and director Michela Andreozzi. Among the Rising stars of Italian cinema, Marco Bocci will present his second work as director, and ample space will be given to Italian TV series with the latest Sky original and Amazon prime productions. Many other surprises to be discovered among films, documentaries and thematic workshops that make Riff an event suitable for all tastes and ages.
The 2023 edition of the Riviera Film Festival is one of the hottest events at the gateway to Summer: cinematic excellence comes to Sestri Levante and like all things done with passion it stirs thoughts, consciences and feelings.
