The easternmost village of the Cinque Terre

Riomaggiore

Riomaggiore is one of the most characteristic Cinque Terre, a village that offers many things to see located between two valleys and scenically seated on the sea.

Riomaggiore opens similar to a theater stage on the Ligurian coast, an architectural symphony of colors and shapes that gently contrasts with the green Mediterranean scrub and blue sky. The pearl of the Cinque Terre, its marvelous historic center is a tangle of cobblestone streets to see and be enchanted by.

A place out of time in which to savor a suspended atmosphere with hints of brackish, stroll along the small harbor and be tempted by the local flavors: schiacciate, trofie al pesto, freshly caught fish, tasteful proposals that tell the story of the territory in all its nuances.
The surrounding hills are also peppered with terraces of vines; Sciacchetrà, the symbolic wine of the Cinque Terre, is produced here and deserves an evocative tasting in the midst of nature.

Seeing Riomaggiore requires a visit to the Church of St. John the Baptist, a monumental work of great prestige built in 1340, containing important works of art such as Antelami’s Triptych and the imposing marble pulpit.
The castle of Riomaggiore is one of the most visited places in the Cinque Terre, dating back to the 13th century it is now the setting for interesting cultural and educational events as well as private ceremonies-a unique location from which to sweep your gaze over the wonderful surroundings.
Nestled among the typical colorful cottages is the pretty beach, a small rocky cove where to lie in the sun or enjoy exploring the crystal-clear seabed.

Riomaggiore welcomes you with its discreet charm showing the most authentic face of Liguria, a destination not to be missed during your stay in Sestri Levante.
